The Welsh Pony and Cob Foundation was founded exclusively for charitable research; educational and scientific purposes to promote the breeding and use of registered Welsh ponies and cobs; to provide educational and research programs for 4-H, FFA, recognized institutions and schools; to develop excellence in breeding, showing and judging horses and ponies; to sponsor local, regional and national competition and awards programs; to provide assistance and research in the study of equine diseases; to promote, encourage and reward good horsemanship and good sportsmanship.

Eligibility Requirements
The candidate must be a citizen of the United States. The candidate must be graduating from high school in the year of award, or in college or professional school, and must demonstrate satisfactory academic performance. Grades to be submitted include Junior and Senior years in high school. If the candidate is currently a college or graduate student, include grades up to present time.
Additional Information
Selection of the recipient(s) will be based on the candidate’s past performance as a student and as a participant in school extra curricular activities, community related activities, and equine related activities. A one-page statement outlining the candidate’s purpose, intentions and reason for wishing the scholarship should be included. Include in your statement any experience with or interest in Welsh ponies or cobs. One letter of reference from a non-related person should also be submitted.
